name: Becky Magnuson
media: fused glass
more: email Becky

Becky began her journey into the magic of glass 3 ½ years ago with just a beginning fusing class. Many classes followed in Portland and
in Eugene. She had the good fortune to learn from some of today’s finest glass artists.
Her former life was dedicated to medical office management, managed health care, and health care provider network development.

A four year affair with real estate sales enabled her to be involved with her first and foremost love: animals. A flexible schedule with real estate allowed her to become a “temporary” animal keeper at the Oregon Zoo. This lasted for six years and then it was back to the
“real world” of medical office administration.
She steadily acquired many “toys of the trade”, easing her car out of the garage, turning a “spare room” into a studio, and then, overflowing into the studio “annex”, which WAS a spare room!

She has this to say about glass as a medium:
"Glass is elegant whether it is sparkling and reflective or masquerading as velvet.
Glass is unpredictable, whether it is “perfect”, save for that one unanticipated flaw, or flowing freely over a kiln shelf to destructive destinations."

Glass has always, and will always have “the last word”, as some wise glass artist once said.
Finally, “like golf, it keeps me humble, and like the Beauty of Oregon, it keeps me in awe."
