I have been interested in art and the process of creating art ever since junior high school. The shapes, textures and colors all around us fascinate me. As I observe and experience these, I internalize them. I paint intuitively. I experiment with the elements of design letting each composition unfold. I interact with what is happening during the process as each painting develops. I let the painting talk to me. Finished works are not realistic renderings but my interpretative expressions that I offer to the viewer, hoping they will find beauty and enjoyment based on their own experiences as they view and interact with a particular work of art. I enjoyed art classes in high school and went on to study art education I at San Diego State College. Upon graduation I taught junior high school art for 3 years in San Diego, CA., leaving to start a family. When returning to work, I went into Early Childhood Education earning a masters degree in that field. My interest in the process of art and my desire to experiment, explore new ideas and create was kept alive as I worked with both young children and college students as an early childhood educator. I learned a lot about art and the process of creating art from the eager, fresh approach of young children. The work I do now reflects my ongoing interest in experimentation. I work in water media; primarily acrylics but I also enjoy collage and mixed media.
